Lionel Messi has scored the 644th goal for the Catalan club during the match of the 15th round of the Spanish La Liga. Messi marked a significant statistical achievement by netting his goal in the 65th minute in Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Valladolid on Tuesday.
The 33-year-old Argentine striker of Barcelona beat the legendary Brazilian Pele’s long-held record for the most goals scored for a single club. Now Messi has scored 644 goals, while Pele has 643.
“When I started playing football I never thought I’d break any record, especially not the one I achieved today that Pele held,” Messi posted on his Instagram after the match.
