Ronaldo explains why Maradona wore two watches

Former Brazilian striker Ronaldo, now the president of the Spanish club Real Valladolid, talked about recently deceased legendary Argentine footballer Diego Maradona.

“Diego left an incredible legacy in football. His loss is very hard to take. The news caught me by surprise and left me very sad. I send my love to the Maradona family. He has changed the lives of many people, and I will always be eternally grateful for his inspiration,” he said.

At a press conference, he shared a moving story. Once Maradona visited him in Madrid, they had dinner. Diego came with two watches, one on each wrist, and said that he would never leave home without both of them. He explained that it was a gift from his daughter, and since then, he had never taken them off.

“At the end of dinner, Diego took off one watch and gave it to me. I didn’t want to take them, but he got angry and I had no choice. I will keep those watches until the end of my life as a reminder of Diego’s generosity and our friendship,” said Ronaldo.
